Mr. Thelander earned his bachelor’s degree from California State University, Long Beach. While attending school, he began his career in taxation over 25 years ago, working for a local tax preparer. After graduation, he continued working in small, local CPA firms, learning the nuts and bolts of tax preparation in a high volume office.
After earning his CPA, Peter switched to private accounting, serving as the Controller for a credit reporting company. He was responsible for all aspects of accounting and financial reporting, as well as supervision of accounting staff members. He also earned his MBA from the University of California at Irvine.
He opened his own accounting practice in 2001 and merged his practice in January 2005, forming LeWinter | Thelander, CPAs | Business Advisors located in Mission Viejo, California. There, he specializes in serving individuals and closely held businesses. His firm works extensively in real estate, with clients in all aspects of the real estate industry from construction to brokerage to rental operations. Along with his business partner, Mr. Thelander is the general partner of several limited partnerships, operating approximately 100 rental units in Southern California.
