Communication and negotiation are an integral part of everyday life. Today’s workplace is fast paced and competitive. Effective communication and negotiation skills are essential to productivity, office morale and career advancement. Learn techniques to improve your ability to communicate and hone your powers of negotiation through interactive workshop sessions using practical business scenarios.
This course will address current issues in the workplace including:
- Avoiding common communication pitfalls.
- Communicating under stress. (during busy season and tight deadlines)
- Communicating with busy people. (partners or clients)
- Encouraging communication on a team project.
- Communicating with difficult people.
- Working with people whose second language is English. (clients and coworkers)
- Using the right word choice to get your point across.
- Choosing the right communication style – casual versus formal.
- Correctly reading body language.
- Choosing the correct communication method – oral or written.
- Using correct phone etiquette.
- Writing proper email.
- Making presentations at staff and client meetings.
- Increasing your power of persuasion through effective communication.
- Negotiating salary increases and promotions from the employee and employer prospective.
- Bidding on prospective new clients.
- Persuading coworkers to work overtime or clients to submit information on a timely basis.
Attendees are encouraged to discuss communication and negotiation challenges that they have encountered in the workplace.
